Divi theme alternatives for a WooCommerce store
Blocksy or GeneratePress, if the store fails on LCP and its layouts are simple enough to rebuild in blocks. Elementor rarely makes a Divi store lighter. Before either, check what Divi 5 changed about leaving.
Most lists of Divi theme and Divi Builder alternatives are written for bloggers. A store leaving Divi asks something narrower: will product, category and cart pages get faster, and what does it cost to get the layouts out? In the Chrome UX Report for September 2026, 41.4% of 150,144 Divi origins passed Core Web Vitals on mobile, against 49.7% to 50.3% for GeneratePress, Kadence and Blocksy. Elegant Themes publishes layout previews but no store demo, so Divi has no lab row; the other three were measured on their vendors' demo stores with Lighthouse 12.6.1, mobile, three runs per page, on 18 October 2026.
Divi's layouts are the bill, in either major version
Exit cost decides this more than speed does. Divi 4 keeps each layout in post_content as nested et_pb_section, et_pb_row and et_pb_module shortcodes. Deactivate the theme and a product description built in the Visual Builder prints as bracketed text. The Theme Builder templates most Divi stores use for the header, footer, product page and shop archive do not transfer at all. Divi 5, launched on 26 February 2026, replaces those shortcodes with a storage format that, in Elegant Themes' own words, mimics WordPress's native blocks. Its migrator converts supported Divi 4 modules automatically. Two limits come from Elegant Themes' documentation. A page holding even one legacy module, typically from a third-party add-on not yet ported, loads the whole Divi 4 framework in backward compatibility mode. And nothing Elegant Themes publishes says Divi 5 content renders without Divi, so plan as though it does not: block-shaped is not the same thing as core blocks, and a block theme will not draw a Divi 5 row as you designed it. So price the rebuild first. Product pages that are a gallery, a description and some text move cheaply; a product template built on Divi modules for tabs, sliders and split tests is a redesign, whatever it moves to. Divi 4 gets security and critical fixes for at least 12 months after Divi 5's release, so the earliest end of that support is February 2027. Divi to Next.js covers parsing the layouts into components.
Divi sites trail on LCP and lead on INP
The 8-to-9-point gap in pass rates comes almost entirely from Largest Contentful Paint. 48.5% of Divi origins have good mobile LCP, against 56.1% for Blocksy, 58.3% for Kadence and 62.3% for GeneratePress. On INP the order flips: Divi is best of the six themes in the report at 94.5% good, and GeneratePress is worst at 85.7%. Desktop is Divi's weak side, 31.2% passing, because only 49.3% of Divi origins have good desktop CLS. None of this is a verdict on a theme: the rows count every WordPress origin running it, blogs included, Divi's row includes the Divi Builder plugin on other themes, and owners who pick a lightweight theme may also buy better hosting. If your own Search Console report fails on INP, these numbers argue against leaving Divi for speed.
Blocksy first, GeneratePress for the lightest pages, Kadence last
Of the three block-based themes, Blocksy is the one to try first. Its field pass rate is the highest of the six, 50.3% of 23,072 origins; its Modern Shop demo scored 74, with 91 ms of blocking time and 17 KB of the theme's own JavaScript; and it ships often, version 2.1.60 on 15 October 2026. Blocksy Pro costs $69 a year or $199 lifetime for one site. GeneratePress produced the lightest store pages we measured: a score of 88, 66 KB of JavaScript in total and 266 DOM elements on its Shop site. GP Premium is $59 a year. The free theme on WordPress.org has had no release since 1 December 2025, a concern for a store that wants compatibility fixes on a schedule. Kadence is the weakest of the three on its demo, with an LCP of 6.6 s, a score of 63 and a product page that loads 347 KB of Google reCAPTCHA. Kadence Pro, which includes Shop Kit for WooCommerce, is $299 a year on Liquid Web, the steepest price here. Price is where Divi still wins. Its $89 yearly plan covers unlimited sites and a $249 lifetime license ends renewals, while Blocksy's ten-site Business plan is $99 a year. An agency with dozens of Divi client stores has no license reason to move.
Elementor is a sideways move from Divi
Divi vs Elementor is the comparison most owners search, and for a slow store it is the wrong one. Elementor keeps pages as a JSON tree in the _elementor_data field, so moving to it pays for the rebuild now and buys a second exit cost later. Lighter it usually is not. On the one demo in our set built with it, Astra's Brandstore, Elementor's own script came to 94 KB against 8 KB for the theme underneath, the median LCP was 13.7 s, and on the homepage the largest element was an Elementor hero block; the demo's 572 KB of tracking tags weighed more than either. WooCommerce templates also need a paid tier, since Elementor's Essential plan lists its eCommerce features as not included. Elementor is the better pick only when a team already builds in it daily and the pain is editing, not speed. Elementor WooCommerce speed fixes shows what that stack needs to stay fast.
Replacing the storefront rather than the builder
A Next.js frontend is the route when no WordPress theme clears your target. WooCommerce keeps the products, orders, payments and admin; the storefront is rebuilt as components, and Divi's Theme Builder templates for the product page and shop archive become route layouts. Divi to Next.js covers the redirect map and the cutover. It is a project with a budget and a staging rehearsal, so a store with a few dozen products gets more from a block theme.
Keep Divi when its Performance tab has never been touched
Many slow Divi stores still run the theme's defaults. Divi → Theme Options → General → Performance holds Dynamic CSS, the Dynamic Module Framework, critical CSS and deferred jQuery, and deferring jQuery is the one switch that can break add-to-cart on a store with inline plugin scripts. Divi speed optimization goes through them one at a time, and Divi Core Web Vitals traces a slow LCP to background-image hero modules. Give the changes 28 days, the window CrUX averages over, before judging them. If the field numbers turn green, stay; if not, you will at least know which template is failing. Our free audit measures those templates on your own store, and fixed prices are on pricing.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best Divi alternative for WooCommerce?
Blocksy, for most stores. Its sites pass Core Web Vitals on mobile 50.3% of the time against Divi's 41.4%, its store demo carries 17 KB of theme JavaScript, and Blocksy Pro costs $69 a year. GeneratePress builds lighter pages but has had no WordPress.org release since December 2025.
Is Elementor faster than Divi?
Not in any data we have. On the one Elementor demo we measured, Elementor's own script was 94 KB against 8 KB for the theme, and moving from Divi to Elementor swaps one builder's storage format for another, so the exit cost comes back later.
Is there a free alternative to Divi?
Blocksy, Kadence and GeneratePress are free on WordPress.org and work with the block editor. Their WooCommerce extras sit in paid tiers, from $59 to $299 a year.
Does Divi 5 still use shortcodes?
No. Divi 5, launched in February 2026, stores layouts in a block-like format and converts Divi 4 shortcodes with a migrator. A page that still holds a legacy module loads the Divi 4 framework in compatibility mode.
What happens to my pages if I switch away from Divi?
On Divi 4 they print as et_pb shortcodes. For Divi 5, Elegant Themes does not say its layouts render without Divi, so plan to rebuild designed pages and Theme Builder templates. Products, orders and customers stay in WooCommerce.
